Instructions for Group Project

   
 Instructions:

You will be assigned to a group of 2-4 students per group.

The teacher will give you a rock to observe and research.

Complete your research on this blog to learn about the 3 different types of rocks. You can only use the websites of interest/bookmarked.

Points will be deducted from your grade if you do not stay on task and are browsing websites you are not supposed to be on.

On this blog your group will create a post.

To create a new post; click on the picture of the pencil on the top of the blog screen that is labeled "create new post."

Title your post the name of the group your rock belongs to (eg. igneous, sedimentary, metamorphic).

To receive full credit on your blog you must complete the following;
1. Create a title.

2. Google, save and upload a picture of your rock

3. Answer all of the questions.

4. Find videos on the internet that match your topic and upload it to your post.
On your post you must also answer the lab questions 1-7.

5. Type all the names of everyone in your group on the bottom of the post.


Questions for lab:
1. What is the name of your rock?

2. What type of rock is it; Sedimentary, Igneous or Metamorphic?

3. Describe your rock. Is it soft, hard, rough, bumpy, or smooth?

4. Define sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rocks.

5. Do you have something at home that is made out of this rock? If yes please upload a picture of an item made of this rock on your post.

6. Using what you learned about the rock cycle, can your rock transform into another type of rock? Explain.

7. Compare your rock to the group next to you. Is it the same type of rock?
